The tower and garden

Drinks on the battlements on top of the tower

The shady breakfast area by the pool

Relax by the pool, or be in historic Sarlat in minutes taking in the sights and sounds of the twice weekly market in the main square.  There is plenty to do apart from sightseeing, depending on how energetic you want to be!  Canoing on the river Dordogne, cycling and hiking are all available, together with Dinosaur theme parks for the kids, Troglodyte cliff face dewellings, and the world famous Lascaux caves.

When the sun goes down, visit one of the night markets in the area to take in the local ambience and try the delicious wine and food.

During the high season, the house will be totally yours, as the owners will not be on site, so complete privacy is assured.  Low season prices can be flexible, depending on the number of people, as the owners will be on site.

We also have a charity, www.wingsoverafrica.org which is providing anti-poaching support for Elephants in Ruaha National Park.  Sadly, our aircraft was destroyed in a freak storm and we are trying to buy a new one.  Please see http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/wings-over-africa/ and help if you can, or share on Facebook.  Thanks.

 Welcome to your
Petit Chateau in the Dordogne

Just imagine your own 'petit chateau', set in the heart of the Dordogne, a region steeped in
history going back for thousands of years. Your holiday home is situated just minutes from key attractions such as: Sarlat, one of Frances most well preserved mediaeval villages; Beynac and Castlenaud, two of the most famous chateaux in the region; the cliff hanging village of Roque de Gageac; the prehistoric sites of Les Esyzies and the famous caves of Lascaux. This, combined with 2 large rivers for canoeing; day and night markets and hundreds of cultural events means that your holiday can be as quiet or as full as you wish.

Set in an hectare of private gardens, your grand maison has a unique tower with open battlements where you can gaze out over the peaceful valley and watch the sun slowly
setting. What better way to enjoy your evening aperitifs?

Afterwards, lounge in the shadow of the massive stone tower, then fire up the barbecue
and enjoy dinner by the water lily pond, stocked with frogs and fish. Or, as the mercury
rises, simply relax by your own private pool, overlooking the valley, and catch up on that
reading you always meant to do. The breakfast area overlooks the pool at the front of the
house where you can enjoy croissants, breads and yogurts from our famous artisanal
boulangerie, 5 minutes walk away.

Built in the mid eighteenth century, it's thick walls a testament to older, more robust building
standards, Maison Grise, nonetheless has every modern convenience. It's four spacious
bedrooms, (sleeping 8 in double or twin configuration) all have an ensuite bathroom, to
ensure luxury with privacy. Bath towels. pool towels and hairdryers are provided.

Living in history doesn't mean you have to abandon your modern comforts. Broadband WIFI
is provided, along with an IPOD/Iphone docking station, quality stereo speakers, and large
digital flat screen TV. There is a washing machine, a drier and a spare freezer in the laundry
(which also has a magnificent view over the valley), whilst the well equipped and spacious
open plan kitchen will have you itching to release your inner Nigella (or Gordon for that
matter). Outside, the lush gardens have plenty of shady areas to sit and enjoy a drink or just
to gaze at the peaceful pastoral scene in the valley below.

If you wish to explore dinner options and would like the services of a baby sitter, we have a charming French lady who is also a qualified French teacher, who speaks excellent English, who would be happy to do that for you.  Also, we have secured the services of a Chef who could come and cook a magnificent 3 course meal for you at the Chateau, without the worry of driving home with perhaps one glass too many!  Please contact her directly for a quote:
